Formerly a hunting lodge owned by the Marmottan family, the Marmottan-Monet Museum now houses the largest collection of works by Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot. But that’s not all: the museum also houses an important collection of miniatures from the Middle Ages and numerous objets d’art from the Empire period.
Opened to the public for the first time in 1934, the museum has benefited from bequests and donations on an unprecedented scale from artists’ descendants and private collectors. This legacy has made it a well-known world center for Impressionism.
In this immersive experience, I’ll take you through the rooms where Monet’s masterpieces come to life. From iconic water lilies to captivating landscapes, each canvas tells the story of a creative genius and his artistic evolution. Together, we’ll admire this impressive collection of 94 paintings, 29 drawings and 8 books of drawings, including masterpieces such as Impression, Rising Sun, which gave its name to the Impressionist movement. We will also discover the prestigious works of other Impressionist masters such as Berthe Morisot, Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Gustave Caillebotte, Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin and Henri Rouart…
Don’t miss this opportunity to delve into the world of the collector Jules Marmottan, and the collections of the Institut de France, which boast some of the finest collections of Impressionist works in the world.
