The famous Musée d’Orsay houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art.
Housed in the former building that once served as a train station, the Musée d’Orsay is one of the most beloved sites in Paris and the second most visited museum in Paris.
Let’s meet at the foot of the Rhinoceros statue in front of the museum’s main entrance.
We’ll avoid the long lines and enter without waiting in the heart of this jewel to discover the masterpieces of the second half of the 19th century.
We will start by looking at some of the masterpieces of French Academism and we will relive the scandals of the works exhibited at the official salons before the creation of the Salon des Refusés and the Impressionist Salons. Together we will understand the evolution of art towards Impressionism and delve into the birth of the Impressionist movement: born from a small group of rebels who paved the way for this unique art form. We will explore the individual influences and styles of each artist such as Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne and Van Gogh. Going back in time, you will learn how these images and messages changed the art world forever. Finally, we’ll end our visit by admiring the post-impressionist works, including the magnificent collection of works by Vincent Van Gogh.
This two-hour private (or group) tour is designed to provide an overview for first-time visitors, allowing you to discover the highlights of the museum as well as some of the lesser known treasures housed here.
Tickets are not included in the tour, you will be asked to obtain your own tickets from the Musée d’Orsay website. If you wish, we can also take care of this, and we will add the cost of the tickets to the quote.
If it is a private visit for a group of more than 6 people, The Musée d’Orsay requires a group reservation fee of 270€ is required, which includes the participants’ tickets. We’ll take care of that booking.
