Meet your guide on the square Abbesses, just outside of the metro stop Abbesses (Line 12)
We’ll then start to stroll along the streets of Montmartre. Just imagine Montmartre before it became part of the city: its mills, vineyards, cabarets, artists workshop etc. Not only will you be able to imagine it, but you’ll be able to discover them during this tour.
We’ll talk about the History of this unique district of Paris, going back to the first centuries AD. We’ll discover how the former suburb, formerly outside the jurisdiction of the city, was transformed from den of iniquity into a fashionable bohemian district. These alleys contain crazy stories and offer an exceptional point of view on the city.
We’ll of course, look at the artists working on the charming Place du Tertre and discover the famous Bateau Lavoir, the workshop where the artists, as Picasso and Modigliani, lived in dirty conditions. Our stroll will then lead us to the magnificent Sacré-Cœur Basilica inaugurated in 1919, that we’ll visit together. During our visit, we could also have the possibility of taking a break in order to taste one of Paris’ biggest secrets, which happens to be the most delicious crêpe in Paris!
Follow your guide to know everything of the atypical history of this district, its surprising addresses, the colourful personalities who made it famous … but also its forgotten alleys and its charming village spirit.
