Guided tour of the Louvre's Egyptian Antiquities

With its 30 rooms and 60,000 artefacts, the Louvre’s Egyptian Antiquities collection is one of the largest  in the world after Cairo.

It follows in the footsteps of Jean-François Champollion, who, after deciphering hieroglyphics, was appointed first curator of this department, inaugurated in 1827.
